How to Apply Foundation
Applying foundation can be tricky and it affects the overall look. So you have to be very careful while applying foundation because one wrong steps and it will affect your look and there won’t be much you can do to fix it.
Firstly, you have to find out your skin type. Then you need to buy a foundation that matches your skin tone. Always buy a shade lighter than your actual skin tone. This is because once the foundation mixes with your skin’s natural oil, it gets a little darker. The whole purpose of wearing makeup is a look as if you are not wearing any! These tips will help you know the correct way of applying foundation.
How to apply foundation:
First of all you will want to wash your hands and face fully and then apply moisturizer or a primer. Let that dry for a few minutes before continuing. Once your face is fully dry you can move on.
Apply the foundation with a sponge or the tip of your finger. Spread the foundation with the sponge or a foundation brush. Evenly spread the foundation around your face taking great care that you don’t leave a noticeable “line” especially near the jaw line or the forehead. After this, use a loose powder to set the foundation and for a smooth finish. Make sure you don’t apply too much of it or else the skin tone might not match. Reapply after some time for those who tend to be on the oily side, after a while you may get shiny again.
It is not compulsory to apply foundation all over your face. You can just apply there wherever you need to cover up dark spots or blemishes. Your foundation should blend in easily with your skin and should give you full coverage. Go for a foundation specially made for your skin type. It is also advisable to apply concealer before applying foundation to get a good and even finish.
A lot of people overlook the fact that the brushes need cleaning too. Or else the germ and bacteria tends gets transferred to your face the next time you use it. Although lose powder is way more convenient than pressed powder as it doesn’t get clumped on the spots and lines. But if you go for touch ups all through the day, you can go for pressed powder.
While applying the foundation, use a brush instead of a sponge. Brushes glide on easily over the skin giving out a smooth finish. The brush soaks up just as much foundation as you need whereas the sponge takes on an overload. And if you think you will reapply the foundation, a brush will be more convenient.
One additional tip: while buying foundation at a cosmetic store, always remember to test it not only in the store but in natural light as well. In stores the lighting are such that it appears to be perfect. But in the natural light you will which shade is suiting you the best.
